As an Integrative Psychiatrist, Dr. Wingate has developed a comprehensive approach to wellness that incorporates traditional psychiatry, holistic medicine, and Kundalini yoga - a physically and mentally powerful form of yoga. In addition to her board certification in psychiatry, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine (ABHIM). She is facile with the appropriate integration of traditional psychiatric medicines, supplements, and amino acids.
Dr. Wingate is past Medical Director of the Renfrew Center, a nationally renowned treatment facility for eating disorders based in Philadelphia. She was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, where she specialized in consultation liaison medicine - the care of patients with complex medical problems. Dr. Wingate continues to serve in an adjunct teaching capacity at Penn, where she enjoys supervising and training resident and medical students. In addition to her private practice of integrative psychiatry, she is a founding member of the Rittenhouse Healing Collaborative.
Dr. Wingate is a popular speaker and consultant, and the author of numerous professional articles and book chapters on eating disorders and complex medical/psychiatric care. She has been named “Best Doc” in Philadelphia four times, and has appeared on television and radio to promote common sense and compassionate care in the context of traditional and alternative medicine.
